To Our Husbands

Jake and his friend Scott while we were dating
(we went to go 80's dancing and Jake didn't have anything to wear so he
borrowed a couple of my shirts!)

Today in Relief Society we had the most wonderful lesson and it was all about our husbands. I go to a young married ward so we all had a lot to say, the majority are still newly weds. The lesson today was on how we can support our husbands and build confidence. It was such a great reminder to me about how much our husbands really do. I know I complain a lot and I just want everything to work out NOW, but today took me back and I need to cherish everything my husband does for me and support him in the decisions he makes for our family.
A quote from todays lesson read
" True Love....blesses and hallows every thought and act of husband and wife". "There must be respect in this home, and honor. Patience in abundance and... loyalty in thought and word and deed must there abide."
-In describing the perfect home, President J. Reuben Clark JR.

This quote doesn't directly state how exactly we should support our husband but it was a great reminder that the home needs to be a place where they feel respected, loved, cherished and honored. Patience with the times that are hard. I absolutely know that I can do better in this area. I challenged myself to be a more kind and loving wife to my wonderful husband. To support him in the decisions he makes and make him feel confident with those choices in that I will follow him. I loved the lesson so I wanted to share the basics with everyone in hopes we can cherish our husbands a little more this week!
-I shared a picture of Jake when we were dating and going dancing, just one thing that he did for me was go dancing when I know he almost can't stand it. I didn't want to get sappy and list all of the reasons he is amazing but he truly is! TO OUR HUSBANDS!!!

Laughter!

Don't you love those moments you are with the one you love, and laughing uncontrollably?

Today we were both in the bathroom at our own sinks getting ready, I believe I was concentrating on doing my make up and singing my heart out to a little Michael Buble. Jake on the other hand was concentrated on something else. He was looking at our little window in the bathroom and saw something kinda big and red, of course he had to go and open the window.

Now the next part has to have a precursor, you all know the different things we have come in contact while living in our house, deer, crickets inside, lots of spiders and a few bats, and a lot of weird creeky noises. To say the least I am kind of paranoid and I scan every room especially the bathroom upon entrance.

So back to when Jake is opening the window, he pulls up the blinds, very slowly opens the window when all of a sudden something FLIES in.... He jumps back saying "AAHH"...
My sink is right by the window so I watch him jump back through my mirror and out of instinct I start screaming cause something had just flown into my house and I was about to start another adventure for the books.

We looked on the ground and all it was a little ol' leaf just making its way to the warmth. We started laughing so hard because the thought of us both screaming over a leaf was a little crazy. The rest of the morning we would find each other laying under our breath over our reactions.

CONCLUSION: A big red cooler had blown over and was laying side ways in front of our window and the most important lesson for the day is that we may be wound a little too tight....

Weekend with Ava

Now if you were used to seeing this face everyday you would miss her too...
My little niece Ava is coming for a weekend sleepover at grandma's house. I am so excited to spend the weekend with her as we don't get to see her very much since Chad and Jen have moved to Ogden and been very busy. I know it will be hard (especially for you Jen) but we are very grateful for the time we get to spend with her. I already have so much planned for her, she's going to be a busy little girl as her attention has to be spread to a lot of people. We will see Chad and Jen when they come down on sunday until then I'm partying hard with a 2 1/2 year old.

My new enemy

I'm not really sure why I started doing this but I have. I am keeping a food Journal. Since the beginning of the year my goal has been to only eat sugar on sundays and I've been doing pretty good at it. I'm still not getting results I want ( I know it takes a long time) but I was interested in what I am really eating all day, so i decided to keep a food/exercise Journal. Everyday I am writing what I have for all my meals, snacks, to drink along with how long I exercise for and what I did. My food pyramid website is my new best friend because you can look anything up and it will give you the calories of it (I am putting my calories along side of what I eat). Yesterdays entry started out really good but when I got to dinner I was to embarrassed to even write it down so I wrote TOO MUCH! I find myself thinking...."Amanda do you want to have to write that down in your journal" More often than not its a big fat NO. So as Jake eats warm home made apple pie that he made with some Vanilla ice cream I am busy looking up how many calories he is eating to make myself feel a little better at that moment. I hope this will pay off.....
p.s that is not a picture of my food journal but I wish it was.

Puerto Rico get away!

These are just some pictures that I liked of the rain forest!!

This is the BEAUTIFUL, Puerto Rico Rainforest that we visited on Sunday. It was so amazing!
We did a little hike because I only brought flip flops. It did end up at this gorgeous waterfall...
That Jake and Justin were brave enough to get in while Tara and I just wadded our feet.
We came across a huge San Sebastian Festival that was going on in Old San Juan. The Puerto Ricans sure know how to party and it explains why it was so hard to find a hotel room and there were so many random groups of single men. They celebrated for 4 days all night long. We went both nights we were there. One night they had a big parade with tons of music, it was so much fun.
We went to a castle that was more of a fort built in the 1700's to keep invaders out of the town. It was interesting to walk through all of the dungeons and cellars and stomp where soliders had once lived and possibly died. This picture is of Jake on the very top of the Castle looking over San Juan.

We only had about 2 hours of sun the whole trip, it would rain on and off all day but it did not stop us from playing in the ocean. I never actually got any pictures of the beach but what we did get was a trip to the pharmacy d/t Jakes inner knee swelling up three times its size. Something stung him while he and Justin were trying to get a coconut out of tree by throwing a rock... It eventually got hard, red, warm and huge. I went and got him a few things from the pharmacy and he will survive. We did figure out he is allergic to tropical bee's....
Thanks to Tara and Justin for inviting us to travel with them. We had so much fun and it was such a great get away.

Little Box of Chocolates

Two of my girl friends birthdays are this month so yesterday we got together with most of the girls for a birthday lunch. I made them a little box of chocolates. They are mini cupcakes with dipped marshmallows on top or whatever else I decided to decorate them with. I used a triple chocolate cupcake mix to top off the chocolate sensation. They look and tasted delicious!
